This is a new beginning for you. The most important one you will ever start. And you won’t remember a thing! That is why I am here, to help you with that. My name is Rosemary Stanton and I’m a photographer. And a romantic. I still get teary eyed when I photograph a ceremony. It is so nice to see two people in love. I’m honored to be a part of such an important day!

I take this calling very serious. But not so much that I don’t have fun. I love what I do and I’m very proud of my work. I’ve been a photographer for thirteen years now. WOW! I graduated from high school and asked for a true camera from my parents. It changed my life. I started going to school for photography and would spend hours in the darkroom. I traveled to Europe and built my portfolio to start showing in art galleries. I was asked to photograph my friends wedding and then my cousins. It was then that I realized that I could be very good at this. I have been photographing weddings for six years. I’ve met some great couples and would like the chance to meet you! During the hustle and bustle(did I really just say that)of the holiday season I had time to stop and photographed this wonderful couple. But I have to take you back to their engagement portrait. It was taken in the fall and it was the first time I met them. Before we got started I was asking them sappy questions about how they met, when they first knew they loved each other! Then she looks at me and says, "you look so familiar". I rattled off where I went to school. I'm from Nashville and I have learned that the degree is much less than six. It's crazy! So she says, "yes, you and your sister know Anna, you went to a party years ago and I met you there. CRAZY!
So this was a great start to day!

What a fun wedding! I just recently got a call from one of Stacy's bridesmaids. She called because her sister was getting married and they wanted me to photograph the wedding. She said "There is no need to meet, we loved your pictures from Stacy's wedding and we want you" Unfortunately I am booked for that day. But what an honor, to be wanted!

Jill and Tony

I worked with Jill. She was so much fun and it's just not the same without her at work. Before the portrait Jill says to me "Tony has this idea, I really don't understand it but he will bring all the materials and we can shoot it at the end of the session." We were almost finished with the portrait so Tony gets ready for his "idea" he shows me this cardboard sign that says "Happy ever after" and explains he got the idea from the classic It happened one night. I yelled your kidding me that is one of my favorites! My Mother who is the coolest! I owe a lot of my good taste to her, started showing me the classics when my eyes first opened! She is a hip, hip lady!

Posh Fashion Show

Posh Boutique in Nashville! I have always loved fashion! I have to wear scrubs everyday so I like my heels! This show was so crazy being back stage and then in the front with the music and the lights. I could most definitely be a fashion photographer... Maybe, we shall see!

Oliver!

When my cousin Beth had her first boy about five years ago, she asked me to take new born pictures of him. I had never taken pictures of a baby before. So my Mom and I traveled to Mississippi to see the baby for the first time. My Grandmother and her brother live next to each other. So as I was getting ready for the portrait I looked out the window and there was a group of women walking down the street to check it all out! This is one of many reasons why I love my family so much, everyone enjoys the little moments and wants to be a part of it.
This time it was Oliver's turn and it was a beautiful day!

The title says it all. My two best girlfriends from high school asked me to photograph them and their beautiful family for this years holiday season and I was flattered! I think Fall is the best time of year for portraits...

Magnum Photos was founded in 1947 by Robert Capa, David Seymour, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and George Rodger as a response to their World War II experiences. It's one of the first photography cooperatives owned and operated by its members. One of my favorite photography books is Magnum: Fifty Years at the Front Line. I recommend this book, not only for its amazing shots, but also because it is an excellent time capsule documenting the history of our nation.

Weddings Past

I photographed this wedding for my cousin Cindy. Many years ago. I have only blogged for a short time and I had to go through and post some of my favorite weddings. This was the second time I was the wedding photographer, both times were for family. My nerves were shot, pun intended, but I was very excited about it because it would be in New Orleans, one of my favorite places. It was after this wedding that made me think I could be pretty good at this! So here you have it...

Welcome to my point of view! My name is Rosemary Stanton and I’m a photographer. Photography chose me at a very young age. I was around ten. I still remember the first time I held an SLR. I remember the season, the way the lighting looked, the outfit I was wearing. We were at my grandparents house. It was mid day and I was being nosey when I found this odd looking box in the attic. I remember holding it, moving it around, examining it. Wondering what it did. I showed it to my Mom and she said it was broken, I was devastated. I would hold my next SLR eight years later. With the same curiosity. I explain all this because this is one of the few vivid memories I have from my childhood. My sister and I still talk about how wonderful it was to grow up with our parents and each other. We are blessed. So thank you for looking in on me. I hope you like what you see. Say cheese!!!!!!!
